Hello Youth Orchestra Participants,
This post is a very important one- perhaps the most important of the year. As you may have heard, the Community Music School of Ann Arbor (formerly Ann Arbor School for the Performing Arts) is sounding the alarm. We need your help to GROW OUR ROOTS or we will have to shut our doors this fall- which means the orchestras will also be nonexistent. We have launched several critical campaigns in the hopes that we raise the money we fell short of during our spring campaign. If you haven’t already, please watch the special message that we have created for YOU: our VALUED MEMBER of our MUSIC COMMUNITY! PLEASE CLICK HERE
We have exciting new things planned for the upcoming year that we don’t want you to miss out on:
FOR THE ORCHESTRAS, we have our new YSO director, Mr. Matthew Nix, and Mrs. Sarah Lenhart will be continuing to lead the SSO with her power and energy! The Moxie Strings will be joining us this year for our annual retreat. We are looking forward to advanced repertoire ensembles within the YSO (including a string ensemble and wind ensemble). We are also planning an Open House September 22 where any student in all of Southeast Michigan can come and see what it’s like to rehearse with the best, most fun, most energetic, exciting young musicians I know.
FOR OUR SCHOOL we have just received a capacity building grant from the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation (AAACF) to expand upon these changes and develop a strategic plan. We are extremely grateful to the AAACF for this opportunity to further enhance our program development and boost fundraising activities!
